What’s Under Your Sink?!
When was the last time you took it all out?!
Seriously, when was the last time you did a deep dive into the products you keep under your sink? Whether it’s a kitchen sink, pantry or bathroom, there’s a lot of stuff that needs a home under there. All the cleaning products, sponges, spray bottles, and random stuff can be a little overwhelming. Not to mention what’s hiding in the dark, back corners… But, NOW is the perfect time to turn things around!
Here are some tips on how to revamp your under-sink game:
Take it all out - every good project starts with a mess, right?! If you don’t take it all out, you’ll never see what you’re working with.
Toss the unused items - Is there a cleaning product under there that didn’t really get the job done when you first tried it? Toss it! A nasty old sponge that’s seen better days? Toss it! A liquid soap that has a slightly “off” scent? Toss it! The more you toss, the more room you’ll have for the items you want to keep.
Take measurements - This step is key! If you don’t know the size of the space you’re working with, you’ll buy organizing products that are either too big or too small, forcing you to make another trip to the store for returns.
Pick your products - Make a plan, lay it out, see what products will fit and maximize the space. Can you go higher with a set of stacking drawers? Would a turntable make good use of the space? Be strategic!
Upgrade your containers - Toss the ugly packaging and put those dishwasher pods in an acrylic pop-top container. Pour dish soap into a clear bottle with a pretty label. If your items are in containers of the same shape, it can help them all fit better on the shelf or in the drawer.
Product placement - Place large, bulky, backstock items toward the back. High frequency items can be put in a turntable. Small items can be placed in drawers. It’s all about finding the best fit for each sized product. Can you use the inside of cabinet doors to hang small items?
Enjoy your hard work - Put all of your items back - they look like a million bucks, right?! Now show it off to all your friends ;-)
